Savant announced that it will discountinue making all dedicated touchpanels for its very high-end home control system. Instead, it will exclusively use Apple iPads. This doesn't bode well for other manufacturers whose systems feature similar inwall and handheld touch screens like Crestron and AMX. Savant says that consumers have accepted the iPad touch screen and that it is technically superior to other panels on the market. There is no reason to pay $2,000 for the same functionalty on a $500 device.
Will other manufacturers follow suit and go all Apple?
